Sphere of Water, Prototype 1

First prototype for sphere of water, a tapered kaleidoscope to create the sphere effect. The final piece will be suspended above eye-level with a mirror on the ceiling so that the viewer will look up at the sphere. Water will be lit from below and there will a fountain mechanism (instead of the water being poured from above as in the video).

Nice! In a similar vein you could use ferro fluid or oobleck with a speaker to generate a strange surface.

    I like the oobleck idea!

Ferrofluid is awesome but is mostly cooler at a smaller scale than I’m imagining. And it can already be a sphere without mirrors.
